konn the frog

Deep in the African Rainforests, the remote Mbuti Pygmies speak of ‘Chura’ (the green one), that came unto them, and whose likeness was recorded, all about. It is said that Chura, with a personality bigger than the tallest Kapok Tree, brought good-fortune upon their many villages.

On Komodo Island, Indonesia, they speak of ‘Katak Hijau’, a frog that hailed
from a magical land, ruled by unicorns, and troubled by dragons. A world with 6 moons (Konn has a mysterious 6 on his right hand).

And in the villages of Pacaya, Guatemala, they tell stories of “Kann” [Konn] who tumbled from the skies, and shed green....where once there was dark.

As Konn explores these many lands, he seems to touch the many peoples. And as he bids them farewell, in search of ever greater adventures, he leaves the throng, making legends of a frog that visited them.

And in the ancient streets and alleyways of Damascus, it is said that all of this is complete rubbish.  But what do they know.

THE LEGEND OF KONN

Many ask about Konn’s camera equipment. He now uses a Leica D-Lux4, which is a small compact camera, draws little attention in dangerous countries and is easily concealed. All his shots are genuine and none of his pictures are ‘superimposed’ (sometimes the flash distance makes Konn much brighter, if he’s close to the camera). His pictures are taken by Konn’s best friend and Co-Explorer, Marc, who works for Konn, as his Official Photographer.

PHOTOGRAPHY

One thing’s for sure, Konn is loved wherever he goes. Konn-Fans say his little smiling face has a thousand expressions. Anyone who’s wondered through his website would find it difficult to question devotees.

Konn travels for about six months a year and the rest of the time is at his Expedition HQ, in London. He has travelled to more than fifty countries, exceeding a remarkable 456,148 miles. The Guinness World Record for ‘Most Travelled Toy Mascot’ stood at 277,442 miles, almost half Konn’s achievement (Konn’s formal  application for the record is now pending).

The ‘Easyjet Generation’ of last-minute travellers rarely have the time or patience (or ability in some cases) to read a book before they reserve their last minute flights online. Konn’s Globehopper Guide provides them with a useful and fun Travel Picture-Guide to the world.

Konn has been surprised at how many other travel-creatures send in their pictures to him. And so, fellow travel-creatures from all over the world can now become travel-journalist ‘Konntributors’ by uploading their own travel pictures and travel advice for others to see, creating the world’s best fluffy-fronted Travel Picture Guide (okay, the ONLY one).

Free Konn wallpapers, like this one, are cult items! Konn works hard at his Globehopper Guide so - if you like it - why not show him a little love with a massive donation for his animal charities?  You’ll get some cool stuff back, directly from the little guy.
