Costa Rica is a stunning country. Caribbean on one side, Pacific paradise on the other. And in-between, active volcanoes protrude from rich Rainforest. It’s a frog’s paradise and Konn felt at home. He took a 4x4 from San José and travelled most of the country.

Sadly, the towns and villages of most of Costa Rica are the great let-down. Corrugated-iron roofs and fleuresent-lighting is the order of the day.

The exception is the Caribbean coast, where the Afro-Caribbean

population create beautiful wooden buildings with cosy lighting.
